Hustai National Park, also known as Khustain Nuruu National Park, is a national park located in Töv Province of Mongolia, only 100 kilometers west of the country’s capital. Covering a total area of 560 square kilometers, the Tuul River flows through the park, providing abundant water sources for the animals and plants here.
Mongolia established a protected area in the region in 1993, upgraded it to a national park in 1998, designated it as a biosphere reserve in 2002, formed a trust fund in 2003, and joined the World Network of Biosphere Reserves in 2007. The most famous species in the park is the Przewalski’s horse, in addition to 43 mammal species, 217 bird species, 2 amphibian species, 16 fish species, 385 insect species, 459 vascular plant species, 85 lichen species, 90 moss species, and 33 fungi species. The species diversity is extremely rich, and the natural scenery is exceptionally beautiful, attracting the favor of the international community for nature conservation and the admiration of tourists.
