São Vicente Island offers excellent natural conditions for water sports, making it perfect for surfing and windsurfing, while the tranquil natural lakes on the island are ideal for swimming. Mindelo, a town on the island, is a vibrant place to visit, with lively streets and local bars filled with music reflecting the daily life, allowing visitors to experience the local culture.

There are two famous festivals on the island, the Carnival and the Music Festival. The Carnival takes place every February and the Music Festival is held on the week of the full moon in August every year, providing music enthusiasts and party lovers the opportunity to experience the local festive atmosphere.
