This historical site is located in the southern part of the Marmara region of Iran, including the city of Bursa and eight surrounding landscapes in the village of Cumalıkızık.

This historical site was the capital of the Ottoman Empire established in the early 14th century, and also served as an important social, economic, and cultural center at that time. This World Heritage Site narrates the establishment of the urban and rural systems of the Ottoman Empire in the early 14th century, with the ruins unfolding around the development of the capital’s economy and politics. The eight landscapes include commercial areas, a comprehensive mosque, religious schools, public baths, kitchens, and the gravesite of the founders of the Ottoman Empire. The village of Cumalıkızık, located outside the historical center of Bursa, is the only rural area in this historical site, providing services for the development of the historical center.
